Networking is the key to our ICT program and classes have regular access to the ICT Suite. It contains 30 computers, a data show projector, a scanner and laser printer linked to a curriculum network and internet facilities. Approximately 30 more computers are available for student and staff use throughout the R-7 units. Every classroom has access to hubs of workstations that are also linked to the curriculum network and internet facilities. Most classrooms also have interactive whiteboards. ICT applications and appropriate software are used to support learners with their research and presentations across all learning areas, including English, Maths, Science, The Arts, Society and the Environment, Health and Physical Education, Technology and Japanese.
The school also provides other support technology such as laptops, scanners, digital cameras, video camers, data projectors, colour/black printers and tablets or ipads. We are copnstantly updating hardware and software to meet the curriculum needs of all students and staff. All staff are encouraged to undertake continuing professional development in ICT and they are supported in this through funding, release time and the provision of workshops.
We provide access to the Mathletics website for all students to work on their mathematical skills online at school and at home. We also provide access to the Reading Eggs website for Junior Primary students to practice their reading skills in an online game environment.
Our school has an intranet site to provide students with access to appropriate internet resources. Students are encouraged to make critical judgement about the suitability of various websites when using the internet.
